Dubai Food Complex Project has been Launched
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched Dubai Food Complex, a mega project that will cost 5.5 billion AED and will bring numerous benefits for the entire area.
The Dubai Food Complex aims to provide an attractive environment for traders and investors in the food sector. It also aims to gain access to new markets while increasing the level of attracting international investments in this area and also to take advantage of the outstanding infrastructure of the Emirate of Dubai in the land, sea and air freight sector as well as the important strategic role that will contribute to its complex in support of food security in the entire country.

Great location for The Dubai Food Complex
The complex will be the first of its kind in the entire region and it will be placed on an area of up to 48 million square feet. It is placed in a strategic location, close to many vital landmarks in Dubai. It is located near Dubai’s South side and only a ten-minute walk from Al Maktoum international Airport, the site of Expo 2020 Dubai, and only 15 minutes away from the Jebel Ali Free Zone. This unique location is a great feature that raises the value of the numerous investment opportunities posed by the project.

Aim of the Project
The project aims to enhance Dubai’s position as a leader of the regional trade food and re-export of food items. Especially since the food trade contributes up to 11% of GDP in the UAE, and it is expected that the sector will grow by 70% to reach its size to 23 billion dirhams by 2030.
The new complex will provide various specialized services in the food sector, including infrastructure and leading centers for specialized support services and administrative services. The Dubai Food Complex’s will provide comprehensive government services and specialized companies, including customs clearance, licensing, food safety and control. This will contribute to promoting the growth of operating in the food sector companies, reducing the cost of the supply chain, as well as strengthening the capacity of these companies to grow and provide new space for innovation and creativity.
Activities
A great variety of activities will be included in the Dubai Food Complex project: wholesale and retail, hotels and restaurants, as well as the logistics area, especially complementary activities such as packaging and re-packing and processing areas, also the handling of goods will be covered, in addition to the provision of housing for employees and workers.
It will also include a number of hotels, offices, financial services and the Center for Integrated Government Services, along with the recycling of organic waste center making it one of the most important environmentally friendly complexes in the world.
